There are many archaeological sites in the area including Staigue Fort, Caherdaniel, Leacanabuile, Cahergeal forts. An information book is provided by the owner for all local attractions and restaurants. Local seafood is a speciality in most local restaurants.
In January 2014 South West Kerry was allocated as the only dark skies area (gold status) in the Northern Hemisphere – an ideal choice for star gazers / astronomers.
